Woodbrook House

Atelier Abdelky’s first commission was for Woodbrook House, a historic country house built in 1770 in County Wexford, Ireland. The newly married clients were moving back from London to this family home in the Irish countryside and looking to renovate their kitchen in a way that respected the traditions of a country kitchen while adding some of their own personality and a contemporary flavour. They decided to place the mural in the heart of the kitchen, above a newly installed electric Aga.

After a series of back-and-forths, the couple decided on a design that would spread illustrations of 20 colourful and detailed insects across 60 tiles of 13x13cm. Ranging from exotic beetles found in tropical climes to the bees that pollinate their garden, the illustrations chime with the bright personalities of a well-travelled and globally minded couple.

"We are so thrilled with our tiles from Atelier Abdelky! The detailing is gorgeous and the colourful pops are exactly what we wanted above the aga. The whole process was so smooth and Judy perfectly understood what we were after and how to achieve it. We couldn’t be happier with the result."
